Research Theme

Public Relations and Outreach

At ICReDD I work on public relations and outreach, communicating the latest scientific advances coming out of ICReDD to a variety of scientific and non-scientific audiences and organizing outreach activities.

My research background is in solar energy materials and surface science. I examined lead halide perovskite surfaces and interfaces relevant to next generation solar cell devices. I used scanning tunneling microscopy and photoelectron spectroscopy to characterize the perovskite surface, defect dynamics, and the interface between perovskites and copper phthalocyanine (CuPc), a hole transport material. I worked closely with computational collaborators using density functional theory to be able to gain greater insight into the structures and phenomena seen experimentally. This is similar to how experimental chemists at ICReDD collaborate with computational chemists and information scientists to further accelerate the development of new chemical reactions.
