During the two-month program, I conducted GRRM calculations to elucidate the reaction pathway under the supervision of Prof. Julong Jiang. Through comprehensive guidance from fundamentals to advanced applications, together with continued discussions after the program, we clarified the detailed reaction mechanism and published the results in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.

Although I was a beginner in computational chemistry, I was able to efficiently obtain reaction pathways and transition states, and I was deeply impressed by its speed, accuracy, and accessibility.

As I belong to an “experimental research laboratory”, The MANABIYA program provided me with a valuable opportunity to experience a “theoretical chemistry laboratory” life and to explore organic chemistry from a different perspective.

I am sincerely grateful to Prof. Jiang for his guidance on GRRM, and to Prof. Maeda and Prof. Mita for their support throughout my research stay. I would also like to thank all the faculty members and students for their generous support. In addition to my own research, I had the opportunity to attend seminars at ICReDD and join activities such as a BBQ with Prof. Mita’s group, making these two months fulfilling experience.
