ICReDD principal investigator Professor Yasuchika Hasegawa will be appearing on the Hokkaido Broadcasting Corporation (HBC) program, “SDG Solutions~Building the Future with Research” on October 10th 11:19-11:25pm. Professor Hasegawa collaborated with researchers at the Hokkaido University Research and Education Center for Robust Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Industry to apply special light-converting materials to the improvement of plant growth. The application of these materials as a thin film on greenhouse surfaces enables the conversion ultraviolet rays from the sun, which normally are not utilized in photosynthesis, into visible light that plants can use to create additional energy.
