ICReDD Director Satoshi Maeda awarded the Karl-Ziegler-Guest-Professorship 2026 and delivered an award lecture

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Prof. Satoshi Maeda, Director of ICReDD and a professor at the Faculty of Science, was awarded The Karl-Ziegler-Guest-Professorship 2026 by the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung (MPI KOFO) in Germany and delivered an award lecture at the Institute.

The Karl-Ziegler-Guest-Professorship is an international award presented by the Institute to chemists who have achieved outstanding accomplishments. Since its establishment in 1980, Professor Maeda is the fourth Japanese recipient, following Prof. Ryoji Noyori in 1994, Prof. Hisashi Yamamoto in 2006, and Prof. Kyoko Nozaki in 2018. Additionally, among theoretical chemists, Prof. Kendall N. Houk (UCLA, ICReDD Award 2022) and Prof. Stefan Grimme (University of Bonn) have previously received this award.
