Learn about neural networks and using them to distinguish chemical compounds in Issue 14 of The CATALYST!

The 14th issue of “The CATALYST” quarterly news poster has been released!

In this issue the theme is “neural networks for distinguishing chemical compounds.” Learn about how computers can distinguish images by using something called an artificial neural network! In chemistry, by training neural networks on images of solid mixtures, computers are able to analyze the ratio of chemical compounds in a mixture. How does the accuracy of the neural network developed at ICReDD compare to that of the eye of an experienced chemist? Read this issue to find out!
This issue also features information about the latest ICReDD publications and a researcher profile on Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Yuki Ide, who builds machine learning systems that can instantly analyze the ratio of solid mixtures.
