On September 21st, 2022, ICReDD Specially Appointed Professor Benjamin List was given the title of University Professor by Hokkaido University President Kiyohiro Houkin during an event to celebrate Professor List winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2021. The title is given to researchers who have shown exemplary achievement in research and education and have been recognized as contributing to research and education at Hokkaido University. Professor List is only the third person to have received this honor.
As part of the event, congratulatory addresses were given by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dr. Clemens von Goetze from the German Embassy and Hokkaido Governor Naomichi Suzuki.
After receiving the title “University Professor”, Prof. List gave a lecture on his Nobel Prize winning research and his future outlook for the world of catalysis.
