The second List Platform Symposium successfully closed.

On August 29th, the 2nd List Platform Symposium was held at ICReDD Hall, 4F of the ICReDD building.

The List Sustainable Digital Transformation (DX) Catalyst Collaboration Research Platform (List PF) was launched in April 2023 in the fields of organic chemistry and catalysis chemistry, which are the strengths of Hokkaido University. This collaborative platform is led by Specially Appointed Professor Benjamin List, the 2021 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.

The List PF will dramatically advance the development of next-generation organocatalysts that consider environmental impact and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by integrating DX technologies such as computational science, robotics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In addition to developing these so-called “sustainable DX catalysts,” the List PF will expand research in related fields through collaborative research.

The program began with the opening remarks by Prof. List, then the research talks by 4 ICReDD speakers and 2 invited speakers followed. The poster session was held this time where 22 young researchers participated. The poster presentations brought vivid and active atmosphere by exchanging opinions among researchers.

There were registrants from outside of Hokkaido, however, due to the major typhoon, the symposium format was switched to a hybrid format, then all talks were streamed online for registrants who could not come to Sapporo. Having the 78 participants (includes online participants), the symposium successfully closed.

The member of the List Platform will visit the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung which is Prof. List’s home institute in Germany, and the 3rd List Platform Symposium is scheduled to be held there in July 2025.
